Great Eastern Mine,
Castle Mountains District, Meagher County, Montana
Originally known as the Great Western and the Great Eastern mines, the mines
were consolidated and operated through the shafts of the Great Eastern.
The mine exploited an oxidized ore body along the contact between an intrusive
and limestone. The mine was worked actively before 1900. Some fine
but uncommon wulfenites have been found in the dump material.

Remains of the steam works at the Great Eastern mine.

Remains of the headframe and shaft house on the main shaft
of the Great Eastern.
