RNa6 Quartz pseudomorph of apophyllite,
Summer Storm Claim, Custer County, Idaho. The Summer Storm claim is
the World's premier locality for Quartz after Apophyllite pseudomorphs, and this
is one of the claim's larger specimens. The Quartz has a soft, almost two-toned
color, grading from a white to a deeper, more grayish colored hue in sharp
pseudomorphic replacements. This replacement is complete externally for the
majority of the specimen's crystals. A smaller percentage of individuals display
cavernous, incomplete terminations which intriguingly revealing Quartz and
Calcite interiors. Crystals range exceptionally up to 3/4's of an inch wide and
up to approximately 1 inch long and have a somewhat drusy texture which can
catch and flash in the light. Minute sugary Quartz aggregates accent the
specimen, forming bright little white colored bursts between larger pseudomorph
crystals. This specimen has a flattish feel which is accented and offset by
subtle rising groups of crystals attractively. As an additional comment, this
specimen has a superficial resemblance to specimen # RNa1. Measures 30 x
21.25 x 12.5cm. $575.00
